Vojtěch V. Sláma is a contemporary Czech artist using photography as his medium. He is renowned for his ability to transform ordinary scenes — landscapes, interiors and portraits — into images that feel both intimate and monumental. His work is rooted in the creative philosophy of the Česká Paralaxa group, emphasising the use of classic cameras such as the double-lens reflex (notably the Flexaret and Rolleiflex), as well as a commitment to achieving perfect technical execution. However, it is not just technical prowess that defines his prints; it is the way he imbues simple moments with a sense of celebration and quiet reverence, while avoiding sentimentality or kitsch. Sláma’s photographs often function as a visual diary of sorts, capturing the world through the eyes of a ‘perpetual wanderer’ searching for beauty beneath the surface of everyday life. His images are not confined to a single genre — he moves fluidly between melancholic landscapes, domestic still lifes and figurative compositions, sometimes blending these elements within a single frame. The square format is his signature, but he also experiments with other formats, always maintaining a poetic sensibility.
Wolf’s Honey (“Vlčí med” in Czech) is a central and defining project in the career of photographer Vojtěch V. Sláma, comprising a book and a series of photographic prints. Published in 2004, the book and its accompanying exhibition marked a significant moment for Sláma, showcasing his signature technically masterful images. The series is regarded as a personal journey — a ‘diary of a wolf’ — in which the photographer searches for a more beautiful and meaningful world beneath the surface of everyday life.
The book is signed on the title page in red pen. Published by Galerie Brno in 2004 (ISBN 8023839200). It measures 9.25 x 10.6 inches (23.5 x 27 cm) und has a dust jacket.
