This bilingual edition (Italian and English) of Paris presents Michael Wolf‘s contemplative study of maybe the world’s most photographed city.

Michael Wolf (1954-2019) was a German-born artist and photographer who captured daily life in big cities, becoming internationally renowned for his architectural photography and urban documentation. Wolf achieved fame when he won the 2005 World Press Photo with his China, Factory of the World project, and the 2010 World Press Photo with Tokyo Compression.
Paris offers Wolf’s personal take on the French capital. Singling out typical architectural features of the Parisian landscape he renders the seemingly banal extraordinary through his distinctive photographic vision. Paris is a continuation of Wolf’s life-long fascination with architecture and urban life, this time taking the viewer to the French capital, where he moved part-time with his family in 2008. Paris showcases Wolf’s ability to transform everyday urban elements into visual narratives. His work in Paris continues his exploration of metropolitan density and architectural patterns, capturing the unique character of the French capital through his large-format camera approach. The photographs reveal the beauty in Parisian rooftops, shadows, and architectural details, demonstrating Wolf’s skill in finding the extraordinary within the ordinary urban landscape.
