In late 2024, the Fondation Louis Vuitton hosted its first major exhibition dedicated to the work of American Pop artist Tom Wesselmann. The POP FOREVER exhibition included around eighty of Wesselmann’s greatest works, showcasing his creative journey from the 1950s to the 2000s. Alongside these, the exhibition will present other significant works by Pop artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Yayoi Kusama, Evelyne Axell, Frank Bowling, Rosalyn Drexler, Jasper Johns, Kiki Kogelnik, Richard Hamilton, Eduardo Paolozzi, James Rosenquist, Marjorie Strider and Andy Warhol. Contextualising Wesselmann’s work within the Pop Art landscape allows for an immersive exploration of his diverse body of work. The presentation is chronologically linked to Wesselmann’s works and themes, and uses the artist’s work as a starting point to develop a general presentation of Pop Art.
